Run plugins without UAD card

Postby Vincentatweb » Sun Mar 14, 2010 2:48 pm

Hi,

Recently I'm working on a mac mini with 4gb of memory. I also have an external soundcard from M-audio.
Is it possible to run the Neve 33609 and FATSO without an UAD card?
I'd like to know before I can buy some UA plugins ;-)

Thanks,

Vincent

No, you will need a UAD-2 DSP card in order to run the plugins. Preferably a "Flexi" type card, then you can get the Neve 33609 & FATSO plugins virtually included with the card purchase.

Thanks Billy for your quick reply.

Though I can't place any card in my Mini.
I guess I need to purchace a Mac Pro. That's quite a pitty :p

Edit: any chance on an external UAD card with a usb / firewire plug?

I think UA tech support could answer that questin better than I can. But, from what
I understand the dedicated bandwidth needs for multiple UAD-2 DSP's are not condusive/reliable
using usb/firewire. I think if UA had firm plans to go usb/firewire we would have heard of something by now.
