It looks like you at least get the card to play nice for a couple of minutes! On my end, I have been fighting a complete no show (after several months of play nice) since mid-April, without resolution

It's been a couple of months since your post, have you resolved this issue, and if so how?
To save you some typing, here's what Dan (of UAD) recommended I do then (none of which helped, but so you can just point out if one of these steps actually did the trick for you, if trick indeed there was):
We should try a complete uninstall/reinstall procedure. I realize you've said that you have reinstalled the OS but please go through this detailed procedure one more time following all steps...
COMPLETE UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL PROCEDURE (MAC)
NOTE: Please download a new version of the most recent UAD software installer from http://www.uaudio.com/support/uad/downloads/index.html
Before proceeding please quit the UAD Meter & Control panel and any other applications and then run a Repair Disk Permissions on your system. Using the Finder select GO/APPLICATIONS/UTILITIES/DISK UTILITY
Double click on DISK UTILITY. Select your system drive and then select REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS.
When complete goto step 1 below...
1) Trash 'UAD Meter & Control Panel' folder. Please navigate to the following folder and throw it in the trash:
MacHD/Users/username/Library/Caches/UAD Meter & Control Panel
2) Trash ',plist' file. Please navigate to the following location on your Mac ( Mac HD/LIbrary/Preferences/com.uaudio.uad.plist). Throw this file ( com.uaudio.uad.plist ) into the trash.
3) Uninstall the UAD software. This is done by running the UAD installer again BUT this time when you get to the window for 'Custom Install' you should change 'Custom Install' to 'Uninstall' and then continue till the uninstaller is complete.
When complete you should do a cold reboot (full shut down rather than restart).
4) Check the following location on your computer...Mac HD/System/Library/Extensions/ Look for the following files in this folder - UADDriver.kext & UAD2Pcie.kext ... If either of these files is in the specified folder then throw them in the trash. If they are not there then they have been successfully removed with the uninstall process.
5) Look to see if you have any UAD Meter icons on your Dock or on your Desktop. If you have one on your Dock then select 'Remove from dock' (remove it from your dock) If you have one on the desktop then throw it in the trash.
When complete do a cold reboot (full shut down rather than restart) and then remove the UAD card and leave aside. Once removed boot up the computer.
6) Install UAD software again. Run the UAD installer and make sure you only select the UAD drivers for the cards you have installed in your system. The installer will default to UAD1 and UAD2 drivers... only 'check/select' for the cards you have installed in the computer (UAD1 for UAD1 cards, UAD2 for UAD2 cards, if you have both cards installed then 'check/select' both drivers). Also make sure you select the correct components *(AU,VST and/or RTAS).
When complete do a cold reboot (full shut down rather than restart). Now install the UAD card in the computer and boot up.
7) Authorize your UAD card. Launch the UAD Meter and open the Plug Ins window...then click the 'Authorize Plug Ins...' button to update.IMPORTANT NOTE - For All UAD v5.* Users: Launch the UAD Meter and open the Plug-Ins window... then click the 'Authorize Plug-Ins...' button to update. It is important that you do not login to my.uaudio and click the 'Download Authorization File' button to get a new authorization file. The 'Download Authorization File' feature is only for user running older UAD software ( pre v5.*) .
When complete do a cold reboot (full shut down rather than restart).
Regards,
Dan BeckerFor anyone else who might read this, and feel the same pain, I've ruled out card failure: I tested on a friend's Toshiba (W7) and the card installed, authorized and even updated its firmware just fine. So I'm inclined to believe something's wrong with Snow Leopard/MBP/UAD2 Solo Latop combo (never even had a crash prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard).
