Duo Flexi or 2 Solo Flexi have a better deal?

Postby communion » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:01 am

Im new here and going to join the UAD's famliy for my new mac pro.
because i missed the previous promo which was given 1176LN and LA-2A for free, so im waiting another new great promo.
at the moment Im considering if there is an advantage for getting 2 solo flexi instead of duo flexi so that I will have $1000 voucher for the plugins. just wonder if the performance will be as good as the duo, is anyone here doing this ? please give me some tips for buying my new UAD! thanks you guys

Welcome to the UAD family! :) Personally, if I was just starting out and had the extra PCIe slots I would get the (2) SOLO Flexi's instead of the one DUO Flexi. For about the same anount of money you get the exact same amount of DSP performance, but twice the plugin vouchers ($1000) for some choice plugins. You could always sell one of the cards later on if you want to add even more DSP power. You can find some sweet SOLO Flexi deals for under $600 each (with the 15% group buy discount) @ http://www.jrrshop.com. For like $1200 bucks you get the latest UAD-2 technology (which blows away the old UAD-1), the equivalant DSP of (6) UAD-1 cards and $1000 bucks towards some of the best plugins on the planet. That is a pretty sweet deal! =D>

get the solo flexi.

you should go to www.proaudiotoys.com to purchase two of them. you will utterly shocked by how much you'll save. enter the coupon code that they offer.

wow - i wasn't really looking to add another card to my quad system (though I have gotten close to the edge on some complex mixes) , and I've already got all the major plugs except for trident EQ... but $594 with a $500 voucher is looking like a no brainer with the Manley coming out (i'm assuming its gonna be $299) ...
UAD2 QUAD / UAD Solo / i7 920 /ASUS P6TD-dlx / Corsair 6GB / Matrox p690e / Coolermaster 700w
WINXPpro SP2 / cubase 5 / etc etc

Yeah, UA is practically giving the card away at those prices. I already had a UAD-2 QUAD and did not really need the extra DSP, but I went ahead and got a SOLO Flexi just for the extra plugin vouchers. I figured I was going to eventually spend another $500 on UAD-2 plugins, so I might as well get an almost free UAD-2 card in the deal.

wow, thanks you guys for the buying tips! =D>
it's really a great deal for getting 2 solo flexi, i will go for this.
by the way, is the $500 voucher = exactly $500 to use in the plugin's store?

Yes, when you register the cards into your personal UA account online you will be credited $500 in non-expiring plugin vouchers per card. You can then use those vouchers just like cash for purchasing UAD plugins.
