Now back to the speculation about the new plug./

I am sick of each thread turning into a debate about the same thing. Enough already!!! Lets keep our threads on topic and if you have any quarms with DSP v Native... take it to the Pisser, Whinger, Speculation or whatever they're called forums. Ta.

So the dsp thing is basically a smoke and mirrors thing to make us think that the cards are somehow essential when we know they aren't.

No it's not 'smoke and mirrors'. UAD's help my very powerful i7 system remain stable.

I was just wondering how this "new" plug might work with the LL IBP....

I only bought the IBP because it looks cute, but now I may try to do some creative things with automation between the 2 plugs, IF that plug comes out.

Interesting, cos the Uad's make my almost as powerful Macpro octocore more unstable.

If the cards are fully loaded and I am using a few manleys and fatsos then sometimes the project wont load because of the way that the cards allocate Au's differently to each card each time.

Plus occasionally I have to either reset the cards and or reboot as everything in my project looses sync.

SO i certainly wouldn't say that they make a system more stable. Plus if you have a few of them on a channel strip they introduce a huge amount of latency, annoying that there isn't a chainer plug years after I bought into this platform it's consistently been something that users have asked for yet never been addressed by UA.
As for the cards being necessary, weren't they asking a while back about hybrid systems?
i'd love to invest more in the UA platform but I am hesitant due to the fact that computer tech moves quite fast and there are excellent native solutions that keep coming out (granted not the same0.

All this being said if the new plug is a room sim and it sounds like ocean way an I can place my drums, percussion, other instruments in that room, compress / equalise the different mics and perhaps have some control over the bleed of the instruments then that will be quite something. I hope they make an announcement today.

It would be interesting if it was hybrid (if it's convolution based wouldn't it have to be due to memory restrictions on the cards?)

I've just heard rumors that UA is going to blow us away with their next release. =P~

Something that we would have no idea could even exist... and it's not the Ocean Way plugin. I have no more info and frankly, I don't even want to know more at this point since possibly I could be targeted for assassination. :D

Just thought I'd stir things up a bit. ;)

I can add that I heard, through the grapevine, something VERY VERY special was pending and I got the idea it was coming to us VERY VERY soon ;)

I rented a massive zoom lens and peered through the windows in their RnD labs. I can't tell you what I saw on their screens, but you lot are going to be *very* happy...

tape emulation i would suggest??

the SOS article on creating emulation plugins this month is really excellent. lots of quotes from UA. The article also mentions how hard it is to create really good, proper Tape Emulation in a plugin. Really hard by the sounds of it. Highly recommended article.

I have absolutely no idea what it could be. If Fairlight knows any details I'd be more than happy to listen. I also got the impression that it would be very soon and of game changer status. Next update I was told... but WHEN that will be I have no idea. Wouldn't bet it is a tape plugin since it would have **** ** ****** and that UA was working on ****** for the release which I didn't associate with tape at all.

But other than that... I havent got a clue! :D
